More About Our Weekly Camp Themes

Week 1: Sights and Sounds of Summer

Campers will identify sights and sounds that we only see and hear during the summer months. We will take a nature walk to a neighborhood park and collect specific items to use for a classroom collage. We will learn about summer weather and the clothes that we wear. We’ll have lots of fun reading stories and creating crafts related to our summertime theme.

Week 2: Animals in Action

This week, campers will dive into the natural sciences and discover what lives in our land, air, and sea. Each day brings new discoveries through hands-on activities, games, crafts, songs, and stories centered around the animal kingdom. From jungle habitats to ocean depths, our young adventurers will explore the diverse environments that animals call home.

Week 3: Healthy Me: Body and Mind

This week we focus on taking care of our health, covering topics such as nutritious eating, proper hygiene practices, and the importance of restful sleep. Through interactive games, crafts, and mindfulness activities, children learn about the essentials of a healthy lifestyle.

Week 4: Rhyme & Design

This week, campers will  explore various poetic forms, experiment with rhymes and rhythms, and craft their own verses. Activities include  storytelling sessions, catchy songs, and engaging art activities.

Week 5: Music to My Ears

We begin camp by exploring music’s many uses, and also discover how anything can be an instrument! Children will experience conventional and unconventional instruments and learn a variety of songs. They’ll also spend time dancing to the beat.

Week 6: Read S’more

This week, campers will be traveling into the wilderness through books, stories, and activities connected to camping, hiking, and exploring nature. We’ll also make and devour delicious sunbutter s’mores.

Week 7: Gametime

Children will exercise their gross and fine motor skills while enjoying a variety of games and sporting activities designed to build concentration, speed, and skill.

Week 8: Around the World

This week, each day offers a new exploration of a different country or region. We start our magical journey using maps as our guide. We’ll learn about the customs and stories of various places and use crafts, games, and activities to enhance our understanding of the places we explore.

Week 9: Wonders of Water

Grab your towels! This week, campers explore the unique properties of water and enjoy various activities involving water. Specific activities will depend on weather.

Week 10: Out of This World

This week we focus on space and exploration. Campers engage in hands-on activities, games, stories, and art centered around the mysteries of our universe. From learning about the planets to discovering constellations, we’ll learn and have fun while embarking on a journey to outer space.

Summer Fun

Children have ample opportunities to be active this summer either in our outdoor playground or on the Gerstung equipment and Imagination Playground located in our gym.

We offer “water play day” most Fridays, which includes time for the children to play with water toys and run in the sprinkler. On temperate days, the class will spend additional time outdoors doing daily lessons, eating lunch and snack, gardening, and taking neighborhood walks.
