Student Shadow and Parent Interview
When your completed application is received and reviewed by the Admissions Committee, the Office of Admissions will contact you to schedule a time for your child’s student shadow and parent interview. The student shadow is an important time for your child to experience a TNCS classroom and meet with students, faculty, and administration. During your child’s student shadow, you will have the opportunity to meet with a member of the school administration for your parent interview.

Request Supporting Documentation
Please arrange for school transcripts and teacher recommendations to be sent to TNCS from your child’s current school. You may use the Request for School Records form to facilitate this process.

TNCS will contact you after reviewing your completed application; all steps of the application must be completed.

Student Shadow and Parent Interview
All preschool applicants are required to attend a 30-minute student shadow to experience a classroom at TNCS. During this time, teachers assess the child’s readiness while parents meet with Director of Admissions for a brief interview.

Request Supporting Documentation
If your child has previously been in a preschool or child care center, please arrange for a teacher recommendation and progress reports (if available) to be sent to TNCS. You may use the Request for School Records form to facilitate this process.

Admissions Decision
TNCS priority enrollment for all eligible students and applicants goes first to returning students, then to siblings of current students and siblings of newly admitted elementary students. Preferential consideration may be given to full-day applicants in preschool programs. Length of time in the waiting pool of applicants is also considered, although TNCS does not fill spots based on a strictly first-come, first-served basis. Preschool students receive priority consideration for kindergarten; however, enrollment is not guaranteed, and current students must apply for admission to kindergarten.

TNCS students are motivated to take risks and creatively solve problems, developing independence and self-esteem.
