About the Weekly Summer Themes

Week 1: Sights & Sounds of Summer

Campers will identify sights and sounds that we only see and hear during the summer months. We will take a nature walk to a neighborhood park and collect specific items to use for a classroom collage. We will learn about summer weather and the clothes that we wear. We’ll have lots of fun reading stories and creating crafts related to our summertime theme.

Week 2: Animals in Action

This week, campers will discover what lives in our land, air, and sea. Each day brings new discoveries through hands-on activities, stories, crafts, and songs centered around the animal kingdom. From desert habitats to ocean depths, our young adventurers will explore the diverse environments that animals call home.

Week 3: Out of This World

Space is full of wonder and imagination! During Out of This World, campers explore outer space through hands-on activities, stories, games, and art inspired by the mysteries of our universe. Children will learn about planets, stars, and constellations and observe patterns like day and night.

Week 4: Spectacular Sports

There’s so much fun to be had when we get moving! During Spectacular Sports, campers learn through active play as they explore a variety of age-appropriate games, sports, and movement activities. Throughout the week, children practice basic skills like running, throwing, and balancing while enjoying sports-themed stories, crafts, and group learning activities.

Week 5: On the Go

During On the Go, campers explore how people and goods travel from place to place. Through hands-on activities, stories, games, and art, children will explore different modes of transportation such as boats, planes, trains, and cars. They’ll investigate how these vehicles move, where they travel, and why transportation is important in our everyday lives

Week 6: Read S’more

During Read S’more, campers build a love of reading through books, stories, and hands-on literacy activities. Children will enjoy read-alouds, storytelling, and playful activities that support language and comprehension skills. The week also includes a fun treat as campers make and enjoy sunbutter s’mores.

Week 7: Nature Explorers

In Nature Explorers, children will observe plants, insects, weather, and natural materials as they explore how nature works. They’ll conduct science experiments such as sorting natural materials, testing what floats and sinks, and observing how plants and insects grow and change. This week encourages curiosity, careful observation, and science learning.

Week 8: Wonders of Water

Water is full of surprises! During Wonders of Water, campers explore the unique properties of water through playful, hands-on activities and sensory exploration. Children will experiment with pouring, splashing, floating, and moving water while enjoying water-themed stories, crafts, and group learning activities.

Week 9: Community Helpers

There are so many exciting ways to help the world around us! During Community Helpers, campers will explore the roles of people who make our community work—such as firefighters, doctors, builders, teachers, and more. Through stories, imaginative play, crafts, songs, and hands-on activities, they’ll learn how helpers support others by doing jobs they love.

Week 10: Around the World

This week, each day offers a new exploration of a different country or region. We start our magical journey using maps as our guide. We’ll learn about the customs and stories of various places and use crafts, games, and activities to enhance our understanding of the places we explore.

Week 11: Creation Station

This imagination-packed week has us playing pretend and getting creative. During Creation Station, Children will explore different materials as they create original artwork, then bring their ideas to life through storytelling and imaginative play. This creative week supports self-expression, fine motor skills, and collaboration as campers design, play, and create together.

All summer program registrations—except tuition for Camp Invention—are completed through the TNCS website. Payment may be made by credit card or FACTS (TNCS families only). You may pay in full or set up a monthly payment plan. Monthly payment plans are available through March 20, 2026. After March 20, 2026, payment in full is required at the time of registration. All payment plans must be completed by May 20, 2026.

Waitlists

When a camp reaches capacity, you may choose to add your child's name to an automated waitlist. Should a spot become available, we will contact families in the order in which requests were received.

TNCS Camp Cancellations

Camps must meet a minimum enrollment in order to run. If The New Century School cancels a session due to low enrollment or other reasons, families may choose to receive a full refund or transfer their child to another available session. TNCS strives to notify families as far in advance as possible if a session needs to be canceled.

Changes to Your Registration

Registration changes are handled on a case-by-case basis by request. We may not be able to accommodate all requests. Changes are subject to a $25 change fee.

Cancellations and Withdrawals

Cancellations and withdrawals made before May 20, 2026 are subject to a withdrawal fee of up to 50% of tuition; no refunds will be issued after May 20, 2026.

Additional Fees

After the start of camp, account holders (parents) agree to be billed for any additional expenses incurred (e.g., adding extended care, lunch).

Primary Fun Camp Water Play Fridays

Children have ample opportunities to be active outdoors this summer.

Children in Primary Fun Camp enjoy “water play day” most Fridays, which includes time for them to play with water toys and run in the sprinkler. On temperate days, the class will spend additional time outdoors doing daily lessons, eating lunch and snack, gardening, and taking neighborhood walks.
